Stanislau Shushkevich: When Academicians Say That Lukashenka Will Come And Prompt - It Shows State Of "Science"
Stanislau Shushkevich

Scientists must be in charge of science in the country.

The first head of independent Belarus, former chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich believes that there are a lot of decent scientists in Belarus today who dutifully perform their work, Radio Racyja reports.

However, the official representatives of the science sector show plenty of flattery and thoughtless service to the ruling regime.

"There have always been organizational problems in science. Science must be driven by scientists. In our country, according to the Belarusian legislation, the Academy of Sciences is subordinate to the "president", and it submits a report to the Council of Ministers. When I was at the session, and there were academicians saying that Lukashenka would come to them and tell them what they should better do, it shows me the bad state of the "science", whose representatives make such statements," - Stanislau Shushkevich said.

Stanislau Shushkevich believes that the Belarusian science still has a lot of quality researchers who make important discoveries and research.
