Protests have been held weekly since 4 March 2018.

In the afternoon of July 14, the traditional feeding of pigeons and a march through the city in protest against the construction of a battery factory near Brest were held in Brest, the Brest Newspaper reported.

According to various estimates, about 250 people took part in the silent protest rally. The third in a row environmental expertise of the plant's project, which is to be completed next week, was discussed. The people once again said that, regardless of the conclusion of the examination, they would continue to come out to the square, write appeals and carry out round-the-clock watch near the plant, with photo and video recording until the plant was closed.

The construction of the battery plant at the Airport industrial site in the FEZ Brest began in late 2017. Its launch was originally planned for August 2018, and then for the end of 2018. In 2019, the terms were also repeatedly extended.

Simultaneously with the construction in the Brest region, a campaign against the appearance of this enterprise in the FEZ was started. Throughout all this time, an initiative group of Brest citizens and residents of the region, as well as its supporters, have repeatedly reported numerous violations at different stages of the project. The representatives of the plant assured that there were no violations, until recently officials also started talking about them.

Starting from March 4 last year, every Sunday the opponents of the plant come to Lenin Square to feed the pigeons and thus express their silent protest against the plant. A lot of them were repeatedly detained and fined for that.
