Police Detained One Of Mothers 328 Movement Participants Who Are On Hunger Strike

Sviatlana Vitkouskaya has been held at the Svislach police station for more than four hours.

Local policemen detained Sviatlana Vitkouskaya, a participant of the hunger strike of Mothers 328, in the village of Vostrau, Pukhavichy district. The woman was kept in the Svislach police station for more than 4 hours.

Alena Kuzmina, an activist of the Mother 328 movement at whose dacha the hunger strike is taking place, has informed Radio Svaboda about her detention.

"At about 11 a.m., Sviatlana went to the village of Druzhny to the bus stop in order to go to the Minsk railway station, and from there - to Brest. But she was detained in the street and hasn't been released for more than 4 hours. We are very worried about her," - Alena Kuzmina said.

The Svislach police department of Pukhavichy district confirmed that Sviatlana Vitkouskaya was there, but did not explain the reasons for her detention and did not say what steps would be taken with regard to her.

Who exactly Sviatlana Vitkouskaya is:

According to Mothers 328 activists, Sviatlana Vitkouskaya is 61 years old, she is already retired. Her son was arrested for drug dealing.

"The son's money and possessions were seized, but some of them, as she says, were her savings for many years of work. She said that "they left her with nothing, with no money at all." And she claims that those money wasn't mentioned in the case file, and it turns out that they simply took it for themselves," - Alena Kuzmina says.

Sviatlana Vitkouskaya came to Vostrau to support the campaign of Mothers 328 and was on the hunger strike with them for several days.

Since June 11, three Mothers 328 have been on a hunger strike in the village of Vostrau. It is known that at least 4 more people have joined the hunger strike during this time. Some of them are on the hunger strike in their homes, some of them have already stopped it.
