‘Candy Conflict’ Flares Up Between Minsk And Moscow

The Russian factory considers the decision of the State Standard of Belarus "politicized."

The Slavyanka Group of Companies rejects the claims of the State Standard of Belarus to the quality of the “Obyknovennoye Chudo” sweets produced by the company, considering them to be unfounded.

As Head of Technical Control, Standardization, Certification and Quality Management Systems of Slavyanka GC Elena Sidorova has reported to Interfax, the analysis protocol conducted at the Lida Center for Standardization of Metrology and Certification RUE with regard to the wafer unglazed sweets “Obyknovennoye Chudo” was received by the company in April 2019.

“Immediately after receiving such a signal, arbitration samples of products of this batch were sent to the accredited laboratory of the Rospotrebnadzor system, and official results on compliance with the standards of microbiological product purity were obtained. No violations and deviations were detected,” Sidorova stressed.

According to her, the sweets are made on a fully robotized line, the products undergo triple control upon release.

"As a result of comparing the norms specified in the protocol, it was found that inadequate standards were applied to the tested products, 100 times higher than the established standards for microbiological purity. The legal field on product safety in the Customs Union is one, all standards are specified in the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union 021/2011 “On the safety of food products” and products should be assessed according to the rules of this regulation, both in Russia and in Belarus,” said the head of the office.

The company's products “fell victim to politicized decisions,” she added.

Earlier, with a reference to Lidzkaya Gazeta, it was reported that the coliform bacterium were detected in the sweets “Obyknovennoye Chudo”, which were planned to be sold in school canteens in the city of Lida.
