Picket Held Near Belarusian Embassy In Great Britain

The activists has expressed their support to the people of Belarus.

This is what Alan Smith, a former prisoner of the Vitsebsk colony, a British citizen, told Charter97.org:

"Now we are in London in front of the Belarusian embassy. With this symbolic gesture we would like to express our support to the people of this country under the rule of a cruel dictator."

We remind that Alan Smith headed a firm, which was engaged in the provision of medical services to foreigners, including in Belarus. According to Smith, he bought tickets for the Brest-Terespol train for a group of Iraqi citizens. The Belarusian court sentenced him to 2 years in prison for organizing an illegal migration channel. Smith spent 10 months in the pre-trial detention center № 2 in Vitsebsk, and then served his sentence in the colony of Vitsba-3 in Vitsebsk region.

He could not count on early release on parole, as he had categorically refused to admit guilt. On September 29, the British man was released, but stated that he intended to punish those, who had imprisoned him illegally.
