Opponent Of Battery Plant Near Brest: Authorities Are Afraid!

Over 200 people gathered for a picket against the IPower battery plant in Brest.

The local authorities withdrew from the “election” the only registered opponent of the plant, declaring the picket illegal. And then they organized a celebration of the Ministry of Emergencies at the place of the planned meeting, Belsat reports.

It was known already last week that a rally against the battery plant was planned to be held as part of the election campaign of Uladzimir Maroz in Brest. However, on the eve of the event, the local district commission withdrew the only registered parliamentary candidate among the opponents of the plant, from the “election”. And the city authorities even staged a holiday for the workers of the Ministry for Emergencies at the site of the planned rally.

Playing around the rescue equipment is fun, only it will not solve the problems of the “election”, and the battery plant.

“The authorities are afraid! Removing Maroz goes beyond the bounds of decency, as the decision is clearly illegal and unreasonable,” said human rights activist Raman Kislyak.

“After the decision of the election commission, the information appeared on the website of the executive committee that I was no longer a parliamentary candidate. And it was emphasized that the declared rally on November 3 will not happen, and if does, it will be regarded as an illegal mass event, and the organizers and participants will be brought to responsibility! ”, said activist Uladzimir Maroz.

Candidates for deputies from the Belarusian Social Democratic Party Ihar Maslouskiu and Hanna Kanyus invited opponents of the plant to the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions to join their picket.

“We show solidarity with all supporters of a healthy environment. This is part of our program, the one of the social democrats of Belarus and the social democrats in the universe in general,” says Ihar Maslouski, parliamentary candidate from the Hramada Social Democratic Party.

The Hramada Social Democratic Party also has already proposed to redesign the battery plant for other needs. Moreover, the IPower has not been officially launched - only, apparently, not the entire power vertical is in the know.
