It has been made possible by solidarity with a political prisoner.

This was stated by the coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign, Yauhen Afnahel, who was commenting on the trial of anarchist activist Dzmitry Paliyenka for the Charter97.org website. We remind that the political prisoner cut his veins in the courtroom in protest against the closed trial in his case:

- I know from my experience of communicating with people who have gone through prison and who have spent a lot of time in prison that people take such steps in extreme situations. We do not know exactly all the information, we do not know what happens to Dzima behind bars, what kinds of sanctions are applied against him, but if a person cuts his veins - it is the last resort.

On the other hand, we can see that Dzima's actions, as well as the fact that a lot of people who actively supported him came to court, made an open trial possible. This is the victory of Dzmitry Paliyenka and the victory of those people who came to show solidarity with him.
