Ales Lipay Charged With ‘Tax Evasion’

A criminal case has been started against the CEO of BelaPAN.

The head of the BelaPAN Belarusian independent news agency, Ales Lipay is suspected of tax evasion. This was reported to tut.by by the official representative of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee of Belarus Yury Kardymon.

"A criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 2 of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (evasion from payment of taxes in an especially large amount), " - the representative of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee said.

Sanctions on this part of the article provide for up to 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Important to note, there was a search in Lipay’s apartment this morning. It lasted for almost seven hours. Then the head of the BelaPAN was taken away for interrogation.
