Berry Picker From Ukraine Detained With Using Weapons

Border guards detained a resident of the Ukrainian village of Drozdyn 500 meters from the border line.

During the week, 11 Ukrainians, picking berries, illegally crossed the border in the Stolin district. One time, the military used weapons.

This was reported to Medyja-Palesse by the official representative of the Pinsk frontier detachment, Mikhail But-Husaim.

Border guards detained a resident of the Ukrainian village of Drozdyn 500 meters from the border line. He did not have documents with him. Soon, two more unknowns were discovered. When they saw the border guards, they tried to escape, during the persecution “did not respond to the legitimate demands of the authorities.” The soldiers fired three warning shots from the service weapon.

– Protocols for disobeying the lawful order of an official, illegally crossing the state border and breaking the rules of stay were drawn up against the detained residents of the Ukrainian village of Staroye Selo. Also, the citizens of Ukraine were punished for violating the regime of specially protected areas and violating the rules for collecting cranberries, – Mikhail But-Husaim added.

In total, over the past week, border guards detained 11 Ukrainian citizens for violating the border, who illegally crossed it in order to gather wild berries. All of them are brought to administrative responsibility and deported from the country for a period of five years.
