Nestriga Island Under AFU Control: Following Changes

An important step in this direction has been made.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have liberated the island of Nestriga, located in the Dnipro delta in Bilozersk district of Kherson region.

The Ukrainian information resource of DeepState has reported about the important advance of the AFU from a tactical perspective - the Ukrainian military have liberated an island in the middle of the Dnipro in Kherson region.

Subsequently, the liberation of the island was reported on Telegram by the AFU Commander-in-Chief, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky. However, the situation in the south is still tense, he noted. But he did not specify when exactly the Ukrainian military established control over this territory.

‘In the Kherson direction, our units managed to advance near Velykanske and establish control over the island of Nestriga,’ Syrsky said.

The village itself was de-occupied by Ukrainian troops back during the counter-offensive in autumn 2022. The AFU commander-in-chief says the Russians are still hoping to force the AFU out of Krynki, but without success.

The liberation of the island will improve the quality of counter-sabotage measures. This was stated by the head of the Centre for Strategic Communications of the South Defence Forces Dmytro Pletenchuk on the air of ‘Hromadske’ on Monday, April 29.

‘It's not about strategy, but about portioned battles, it's more tactical significance. Locations that do not allow the enemy to approach our positions, they do matter,’ he explained.

Pletenchuk added that there are actually many such islands on the Dnipro, which the occupiers can use for their own purposes.
