On the night of April 17, several loud explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Crimea near Dzhankoy. According to local Telegram channels, a military airfield is burning.

Around 4 am, residents reported a large fire near the airbase. Several loud explosions were heard before the fire.

Later, local Telegram channels published videos of new explosions.

The explosions began before the announcement of the alarm in the military unit.

At the moment, nothing is known about the causes and consequences of several explosions in Dzhankoy.

The Crimean Wind monitoring group reports that the satellite recorded six fires at the military airfield in Dzhankoy and next to it.

"The VIIRS/Suomi NPP satellite recorded six fires at the Russian military airfield in Dzhankoy. The time of the picture is 03:41 MSK," the message reads.

According to preliminary information, the state airfield of the Russian Federation in Crimea is burning, the 39th Helicopter Regiment of the 27th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Air and Air Defence Command of the Southern Military District, three aviation squadrons are stationed there.

The Dzhankoy airbase is the main logistics hub for the Russian army and the location of attack helicopters. The 39th Helicopter Regiment of the 27th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Air and Air Defence Command of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation is deployed in Dzhankoy as part of three aviation squadrons on Mi-8, Mi-35M, Mi-28, Ka-52.

In addition, helicopters of the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation are deployed in Dzhankoy.

Also, according to the Crimean Wind channel, not only attack helicopters were based at the airbase. Earlier, S-300/S-400 launchers were spotted there.

Recall that in Moscow on the evening of April 16, a strong fire covered the Avangard plant, which is engaged in the production of S-300 missiles. The fire spread to about 50 square meters.
