PACE Supports Kosovo's Membership In Council Of Europe

The final decision is to be taken by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

On Wednesday, April 16, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe supported the accession of partially recognised Kosovo to the Council of Europe.

This is reported by the press service of the PACE.

This decision was supported by an absolute majority of deputies.

171 deputies voted in favour of Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe, 131 against, and 29 abstained. The PACE hall met the decision with applause.

This vote does not finalise the procedure. For Kosovo to become a member of the organisation, the final decision is to be taken by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe by a two-thirds vote. In previous votes in the Committee of Ministers, the necessary number of votes in favour was in place.
