Sabalenka Will Play At Tournament In Miami In The End

Earlier it was reported that the tennis player would miss the tournament due to the death of her boyfriend.

Belarusian tennis player, second racket of the world Aryna Sabalenka will perform at the WTA tournament in Miami, despite the death of her boyfriend Kanstantsin Kaltsou. This was reported by The Tennis Letter with a reference to the Tennis Channel.

However, Sabalenka will not speak to the press during the tournament.

The death of 42-year-old Kaltsou, coach of the Ufa KHL club Salavat Yulaev, became known on March 19. He was in Miami with Sabalenka, whom he had been dating since 2020.

Miami police believe that the cause of Kaltsou’s death was suicide; his body was found under the windows of the St. Regis Bal Harbor Resort.

Sabalenka should start the tournament in Miami from the second round as one of the seeds. Matches in the main draw began on March 19.

The tournament in Miami with a prize fund of almost $9 million belongs to the WTA-1000 category, only the Grand Slam tournaments and the WTA Finals are more prestigious.
