The famous sports commentator was 52 years old.

Russian sports journalist and football commentator Vasily Utkin died at the age of 52.

This was reported by the Egrisi football club, which he owned.

Utkin died today in the cardiology department of the Pirogov Hospital in Moscow. He was taken there by ambulance. Doctors diagnosed him with acute vascular insufficiency.

Immediately after hospitalization, Utkin was connected to a ventilator. But it was not possible to revive him.

Vasily Utkin gained fame in the mid-1990s as a football commentator for NTV and NTV-Plus, as well as a journalist. From September 1, 2010 to August 31, 2015, Utkin served as Editor-in-Chief of NTV-Plus sports channels.

He became the winner of the TEFI award in the category “Best Sports Commentator” in 2004 and 2005.

After creating Match TV, Utkin moved to this channel, where he worked until February 2016. From March 2016 to May 2017 he commentated on matches on Eurosport.

In recent years, Utkin has been releasing “Football Club” on his YouTube channel, where he had more than 600 thousand subscribers.

Utkin also acted in films (“Election Day” and other projects of “Quartet I”), played in the “What? Where? When?” intellectual show.

In 2017, Utkin became the owner of the amateur football club Egrisi, the club took part in the second, third and fourth seasons of the Media Football League (MFL).

In 2020, Vasily Utkin supported peaceful protests in Belarus.
