Israeli From Belarus: Mustachioed Dictators Never Did Good To Jewish People
ALEXANDER FRUMAN

What do people in Israel think about Lukashenka’s solidarity with Palestinian terrorists?

Alexander Fruman, an Israeli from Belarus, became famous after he launched his own investigation against Lukashenka’s security forces, who tortured him after the protests in 2020.

Today he actively helps compatriots from Israel who were attacked by Palestinian terrorists.

How did ordinary Israelis react to one of the most notorious militant attacks? Is there a public consensus on further action against terrorists? What do people in Israel think about the stance of Russia and the Lukashenka regime? Charter97.org journalists asked Alexander Fruman these and other questions.

– How did you perceive the news about the start of the war?

– I have one of these classic stories for Israel: the war started when I was abroad. I was on vacation in Cyprus, and in the morning my son wrote to me on WhatsApp that the bombing had begun.

I started checking the news and watching Telegram channels. The understanding began to come that something unusual was happening. The enemy not only bombed but also started a ground operation, which has almost never happened in my memory. This was probably the first time this had happened since the Yom Kippur War, so I immediately found the next available flight and was already in Israel on Sunday morning.

– How do people in Israel react to the horrors that happened at Kibbutz Kfar Aza at the music festival? What emotions do people have?

– Everyone wants revenge, people join the ranks and they want to help somehow. Everyone has a great desire to once and for all put an end to the Hamas terrorists, who can only be compared to ISIS. We do not like to compare any tragedies, even on a global scale, with the Holocaust, but since the Holocaust, never have so many Jews died in one day. What the militants left behind, what we see in these towns, in these villages, in these kibbutzim near Gaza, is hard to even talk about.

When it became known about the atrocities in Kfar Aza... I definitely didn’t look at the photographs, I even closed this article, it was impossible to read about it. I was thinking that such things were left somewhere in the middle of the 20th century. If we consider large-scale tragedies that happened relatively recently, this can be compared with the Beslan, for example, but, again, multiplied. It's hard to find any comparisons other than what happened in the mid-20th century.

– Is there any public consensus on how to continue to act against the terrorists?

– Although this is a major mistake by the Israeli government, a huge failure of our intelligence services, we, of course, are angry with them, but the consensus is that we will not hold a debriefing now, we will not look for those to blame now. We will now unite. The opposition has become part of the government of national unity. For example, if for the last nine months, there has been a protest against judicial reform, there have been huge demonstrations, now those publics in messengers that were organizing pickets have turned, for example, into organizations to help reservists.

Those who said that the Israelis need to leave, and relocate to Europe, because a dictatorship is coming here, are now helping the Israelis return to the country so that they can mobilize. There is a huge unity, we do not divide ourselves into right or left, supporters or opponents of reforms, those who wear a kippah and eat kosher food or not. We are one people, every Israeli is trying to help. If someone wants to mobilize, then there are special Telegram channels where they post information that they need, for example, a tank driver, and within a minute they receive 10-15 offers.

We were attacked by inhumans, you can’t even give them another definition. After what we've seen, everyone wants to take part in the fight against them. Someone is collecting help for people who were attacked. They have been taken to safer places now. Someone comes to places where soldiers are resting from battles and brings them the necessary things. Naturally, the soldiers are provided with everything they need: both military ammunition and everything else, but there are still organizations that are trying to help at least somehow.

In 48 hours, we called up 300,000 troops, who, for example, could not be mobilized for two months in Russia, where they ran around the metro and handed out summonses. Our people came voluntarily. Roughly speaking, we have one and a half reservists for one place now. So there is a huge unity, a huge solidarity, but it is in our DNA. No one will protect us except ourselves, we understand this very well.

– Do Israelis say anything about the position of Russia and the Lukashenka regime, Palestinian militants supporters?

– Naturally, the Putin regime and the Lukashenka regime are perceived as part of the axis of evil, which includes Iran, which dreams of wiping Israel off the face of the earth. Before this, of course, there was also negativity towards them. Belarus is not treated only like this: it is such a small link in this chain of evil. But, for example, after Minskaia Pravda published an insane article about supporting Hamas, they reprinted something, in my opinion, from RT [the Russia Today news publisher - Ed.]. They deleted it later, but the Internet remembers everything. There was a very angry reaction to this, how can they support it!

Also, the Yellow Plums wrote that Kfar Aza is a fake. Even knowing that this is a resource of the Lukashenka administration, there could be no other reaction to this. Therefore, the main media sources published articles about Belarus taking an anti-Israeli position. As for me, I am not surprised, of course, but still, there shall be some limits, and one could have remained silent. And the fact that they supported terrorists shows what kind of regime and what kind of ideology is now in Belarus and Russia.

– Lukashenka, Iran, Putin, Hamas - evil in the world stands in solidarity. Is there any way to answer them?

– It seems to me that this question should be asked to the Prime Minister. He deals with strategic issues. I know that US aircraft carriers have now approached the shores of Lebanon, and more of them are on their way now. It seems to me that aircraft carriers are not taxis. It’s not so easy to drive them back and forth. Therefore, I do not rule out that the issue with Iran will be resolved in the future. Naturally, Russia and now Belarus are under the nuclear umbrella, and no one will try to somehow conflict with them. Moreover, there are tens of thousands of Jewish people in Belarus.

We all know that throughout history, dictators, especially the mustachioed ones, have never been inclined to do good to the Jewish people, so no one wants to make them bring the thunder. I don’t know how to influence them, but it is quite possible that there will be some influence on Iran, given the information about its involvement in preparing an attack on Israel.

There is a rumor, it is from more or less reliable sources, that some of the attackers spoke Farsi, which means they were from Iran. Perhaps there will be something similar to what happened to Afghanistan after the September 11th events. But these, again, are just my thoughts. It’s better to contact officials for such information.
