The reason was a report about the monument in honor of the Komsomol’s 100th anniversary.

Dmitry Lupach’s case was considered in the Hlubokaye district court, Belsat reports.

At the end of last year, the journalist made a TV piece that a monument to the Komsomol had been raised in Hlubokaye.

The police opened an administrative case. In that regard, they interviewed two witnesses: Sviatlana Palidavets and Alena Mayorava. These women took part in the survey. Only Sviatlana Palidavets appeared in court, Alena Mayorava did not come, with reference to illness.

At the beginning of the court hearing, Dzmitry asked to conduct it in the Belarusian language, since on that day, February 21, the Day of the Native Language was celebrated. The judge did not satisfy the petition, with reference to the fact that there are two state languages in Belarus. He did not allow taking pictures either.

The witness, Sviatlana Palidavets, who works as a teacher, told the court that she would no longer give any interviews to journalists in order to have no problems.

Dzmitry Lupach said he did not consider himself guilty. Nevertheless, the judge Andrei Tarasevich punished the journalist with a fine of 35 basic units, which amounts to 892 rubles 50 kopecks.

That was the journalist’s first trial held in 2019. Last year, Dzmitry was tried nine times.
