Ex-Chief Of Medicine Of Hrodna Regional Hospital Convicted For Bonuses

The case for concealing the explosion was closed.

Former Chief of Medicine of the Hrodna regional clinical hospital has been convicted in Hrodna.

The court found the Chief of Medicine guilty of having illegally accrued financial bonuses to his subordinates, causing damage in the amount of more than 40,000 denominated rubles, and sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment in a penal colony without the confiscation of property, tut.by reports.

Sviataslau Savitski was initially accused of hiding an explosion of an air-gas mixture in the summer of 2013, which killed two workers. The ex-Chief of Medicine was also charged with the illegal awarding bonuses (more than 400 million non-denominated rubles) to the head of departments, as well as to the administration staff.

Sviataslau Savitski categorically disagreed with financial claims, but he fully admitted his guilt with regard to concealing the explosion.

- Here I admit my guilt. But on the same day I told both the Investigatory Committee and the prosecutor's office about the incident,” says Savitski.

However, he recognized that they notified the Ministry of Emergency Situations about the incident in the hospital a little bit later.

“There were reasons for that,” adds the ex-Chief of Medicine.

True, the case of concealing an explosion was discontinued by the court due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Sviataslau Savitski is 56 years old. He was appointed the Chief of Medicine of the Hrodna regional clinical hospital in 2002. Before that he worked in district hospitals. Since 2014, he has been an associate professor at one of the departments of Hrodna State Medical University. Author of 52 scientific papers, two monographs and one invention. He has a 20-year experience in medical practice. At the time of initiation of criminal cases, the head of the hospital was a “deputy” of the regional council.
