Uladzimir Kiyko: It’s Enough To Rebel In Kitchens And On Internet

It’s time to take responsibility for Belarus.

On January 17, a meeting of the Rada of the Belarusian National Congress was held in Minsk. Representatives of all organizations that are its members, as well as leaders of regional opposition coalitions, took part in it. The discussion of the BNC’s strategy of actions during the presidential campaign lasted more than an hour. Most of the participants of the meeting, including all the regional leaders, supported Mikalai Statkevich as a presidential candidate. Only three people abstained.

What should be the strategy and main tasks of the democratic forces during the presidential campaign? Uladzimir Kiyko, a representative of the Belarusian National Congress in Vitsebsk, answers the question to the BNC press service:

– Today, Mikalai Statkevich is essentially the only politician in Belarus who can really fight against the current dictatorial regime and who can unite around himself all healthy patriotic forces. Mikalai Statkevich is the only politician in our country who Lukashenka really fears and therefore, I have no doubt who should become the new president of Belarus.

The authorities have done everything to facilitate our work. There’s no need to say, to explain anything to people, they themselves ask where to go and what to do to change power. And those who are undecided, they should understand that the next elections are probably the last opportunity to get it right. After them, even a formally independent Belarus may no longer exist – we all saw what happened at the end of last year. This will be the last battle for the country. It’s enough to rebel in the kitchens and on the Internet, it’s time to take responsibility for Belarus and take part in the battle.
