A Belarusian made a fake birth certificate to get a Polish Card. According to euroby.info, this is the first of the criminal cases of false Polish.

34-year-old Dzmitry M. applied for a Polish Card in Bialystok to the local Voivodship Office. The proof of his connection with the Polish people was to be the entry “Pole” in the column where his mother's nationality should be indicated. However, it turned out that this information was fake.

Usually, such cases do not end in trials. False Poles admit guilt, go to an agreement with the investigation and the punishment for them is limited to a fine. But in this case the man does not agree with the charges, so the case got to court. If he is not acquitted, he will face up to 5 years in prison.

According to the Polish prosecutor's office, dozens of criminal cases against people using fake documents belonging to the Polish people have been initiated in Bialystok. False Poles massively emerged in Poland in 2018.
