Relatives Of MahiliouDrev Workers, Injured In Blast: We Are In Shock

The managing board of the enterprise have said nothing about compensation so far.

Six workers were injured in the blast at MahiliouDrev enterprise. Three of them are women. All the injured have been hospitalized, Radio Liberty informs.

Two people were delivered to the burns department of the Mahiliou hospital #1, and then sent to Minsk for treatment. One female worker was transported to the Minsk hospital in a helicopter on the day when the emergency situation happened – September 25. Her colleague was taken there on September 26. The top functionaries of the enterprise insisted on the transfer to Minsk. The relatives of the casualties say so.

The relatives of 53-year-old Iryna informed that she was in a serious condition. The woman got burns of 61% of skin, her upper respiratory airway was also injured.

Iryna’s family have no idea about what happened in the workshop. All witnesses of the incident are in hospital now. The issue of compensation of the damage to the worker’s health has not been raised yet.

Another casualty, 47-year-old Aksana, is being treated in Mahiliou. Her relatives met with her. Her condition is satisfactory, according to them.

“She has no burns or other injuries. She is in the state of shock. Doctors say her life is out of danger. She is under observation. The issue of discharging has not been raised so far. We want her to get well soon. We are glad that everything turned out well, but we are shocked with the whole situation,” the casualty’s sister says.

Aksana’s relatives don’t know about the details of the incident. They say she called them and asked to take her from work. Later, it turned out she was in hospital.

As for other casualties, Aksana’s relatives know only what was reported in the official messages.

According to them, no one has mentioned compensation of the health damage yet, but they hope there will be one.
