Blogger Andrei Pavuk Detained In Aktsiabrskaye
ANDREI PAVUK

He was on his way to the district "council of deputies" to attend its meeting.

In the morning of September 25, activist and well-known local blogger Andrei Pavuk was detained in the small town of Aktsiabrskaye (Homel region).

He was on his way to the district "council of deputies" to attend a meeting, the human rights center Viasna reports.

He managed to enter the building, but in the hall, the guards stepped up to him and called the police. He was detained. Andrei Pauk does not answer the phone.

We remind that in June, the blogger appealed to the leadership of the Aktsiabrskaye District Executive Committee and the district "council of deputies" with a proposal to allow him attending public meetings in the district executive committee and the sessions of the district "council of deputies." The officials responded saying that Pavuk does not have such a right, and turned down his request. Pavuk considered that by the refusal, the officials had violated his constitutional right to receive information, and appealed to the Aktsiabrskaye district court. However, because of a curious case during the trial, namely because the blogger accidentally saw the made-up decision on his case even before the hearing of arguments, judge Vasileuski was forced to withdraw his name.

Then the case was sent to the Mozyr district court, which did not satisfy Andrei Pavuk’s complaint about the violation of his right to receive information.
