Belarusian Double-Crossed At Construction In Moscow

The gastarbeiter worked as a builder without registration in Krasnogorsk.

Last winter, Aliaksandr saw on TV an announcement about working in Russia, tut.by writes. He got interested in the vacancy, as "it's extremely difficult to find a builder's place in the cold time."

– There was no money, and my wife began to stress me out saying that I was idle, – the man recalls.

He called the number indicated in the announcement and contacted the firm, which helped Belarusians to employ abroad. Consultant Alena put into the picture: there was a vacancy of a builder in Russia without official registration.

They promised to pay 800 rubles a day (25 Belarusian rubles). It was possible to earn 25 thousand Russian rubles, or about 350 dollars for a month of work without days off.

– They promised good conditions: accommodation in a hostel, food, shower. In fact, it was not true: in reality, there was a cold trailer with a multicooker and a refrigerator, a shower once a week and food for you own money, – the man says.

However, at that moment Aliaksandr agreed to go. He was instructed that the group would travel by bus from Vorsha and arrive at the construction site in the Russian Krasnogorsk.

Arriving at the scene, the brigade immediately started to work. The work was different every day.

– I could knead the mortar, and then unload the blocks or pipe out the water, – Aliaksandr recalls.

Once a week, the head gave all the builders under signed receipt a thousand of Russian rubles for food. The man worked there from February to May, but he did not see the salary.

When Aliaksandr decided to go home, they started to threaten him saying that they would not pay anything. However, the man managed to get 5 thousand Russian rubles for the trip and returned to Belarus.

Upon arrival, the man applied to the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Labor Inspectorate of the Russian Federation. He also regularly contacts the former employer. However, the company is in no hurry to pay him money and asks Aliaksandr "to wait a little longer."
