Enterprise Workers Took Strike Action In Homel Region

Employees of the company have supported the director, who came into conflict with the authorities.

If to put the screws on Belarusians, they are able to strike, at least at the village level. In Kastrychnitski district of Homel region, local officials wanted to replace the director of an agricultural enterprise, but people defended their leader.

A few days ago, a real strike occurred in the town of Maiseyeuka: the workers of the same-name farm did not go to work.

"There was a strike because of the change of the director. They wanted to appoint a new person – a woman, – as a director of the collective farm, but people protested. They said that they did not want this, and they demanded that they should return the previous director," – the local resident said.

Dzmitry Shust, for whom his employees fought, held that position not so long ago. But he managed to prove he was a good director within a short time.

"Even though he worked only two months, he raised the salary for people during this time. A young guy, 35-36 years old," – the local resident says.
