Criminal Case Opened Against Warrant Officer From Baranavichy Who Was Selling Arms

Several persons involved in the case were detained.

A serviceman from one of the parts of the Baranavichy garrison is suspected of illegal actions in relation to weapons. Also, there are several other figurants in the case. They are all detained.

A commander of one of the military units of the Baranavichy garrison revealed the illegal actions.

"A criminal case has been opened. All persons involved in unlawful actions with weapons are detained, investigative actions are carried out by the competent bodies," – Uladzimir Makarau, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, told to tut.by.

According to tut.by, the case is pending in the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.

"Information on the criminal case will be provided on the basis of expediency and with the investigators’ permission," – the IC press service reported.

Earlier, this incident was written about by the Baranavichy newspaper Intex-press referring to its sources:

"The ensign of the 8th Radio Engineering Brigade used to steal assault rifles, pistols, cartridges and grenades. And he even sold some of it. The man is 20-25 years old, he served under contract in the military unit, recently he finished studying and received the title of an ensign. The interlocutors report about one suspect and that he, like the buyers, was detained."

According to Nasha Niva, the suspected ensign served in the combat support equipment company as the head of the armed forces of the unit. During the investigation, he gave testimony against two more people.

According to the periodical, the weapons from the unit were taken out for sale.

"A Kalashnikov rifle was sold for $ 1000, a Makarov pistol – for 250. It is known that all those who bought or received weapons as a gift are now under investigation, the investigators have found another part of the stolen weapons in two secret places near Kletsk and Baranavichy," – Nasha Niva writes.

Official sources have not yet confirmed the information on the sale of weapons, but they have not been denied either.
