Artur Michalski was appointed by Foreign Minister Jacek Chaputovich on May 17. A few days later, the Polish President Andrzej Duda approved his candidacy.

The new Polish Ambassador is a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Catholic Theology. In 1991-96, he was the second secretary, and then became the first secretary of the Polish Embassy in Moscow. Later, Mikhalsky headed the Russian department of the Center for Eastern Studies.

In the nineties, he worked in Eastern Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. In 2000-2004 he was the first secretary and then an advisor to the Polish Embassy in Washington. From 2004 to 2006 he worked in the Department of America of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
