Economist Siarhei Chaly Brutally Beaten By Five Unknown Men

He is in hospital with a fractured nose and a head injury.

Tonight five unknown people attacked economist and author of the program "Economyfor Dummies" on tut.by Siarhei Chaly. Now he is in hospital with a traumatic brain injury and a fracture of the nose.

It happened around midnight. Siarhei Chaly, along with two friends, left the bar. Five minutes later five men ran up to them and started beating them.

Chaly believes that the attack was planned.

- They didn’t hurt my friends, they were beating only me. And only on the head - there are no bruises on the body, - said Siarhei Chaly. - Everything looked rather strange. It wasn’t as if they were just passing by, ordinary “have ya got a cigarette” hooligans. They had nothing against the whole company. Then it would be equal for everyone.

Siarhei Chaly reported the attack to the police.

"The police did not want to take a statement for a long time, or to call an ambulance," - Siarhei Chaly added.

He assumes that he will need at least a month to recover.
