To Chew Hay And Sing Songs

Having agreed to be stalled, you’ll follow up with standing in the stall.

The dust after the BPR’s 100th anniversary have gradually settled. But the consequences of what happened on the jubilee Freedom Day and its eve are revealing themselves more and more.

That part of the opposition, which has agreed to celebrate the outstanding date of the Belarusian history in the way it was graciously allowed by the power, has refused not only to hold the march (as a political factor of the holiday). It has refused our constitutional right to freedom of assembly and demonstrations.

And what did it get in return? More precisely, what did the entire Belarusian democratic movement get as a result?

I’ll tell you what.

Lukashenka: "right then and there stop any unauthorized activities that interfere with the life of people!

Shunevich: "Not a single rally unsanctioned by the authorities will be held. And even if it starts, it will be stopped very quickly and efficiently!"

Lukashenka: "Everyone should understand and hear that this is not just an idea of the police."

Shunevich: "We will get stronger in the future ..."

And so on – including an attack against the partners in "dialogue", in which he takes part on one side, but on the other: "Not paying attention to the reaction of the EU and the US State Department"

This is a direct result of the actions of those politicians who have agreed to the separative, conciliating negotiations with the regime.

Having agreed to be stalled, you’ll follow up with standing in the stall. Chewing hay and singing songs.

Those, who believe that the concert near the Opera House is not a greater event than the one, which took place a hundred years ago, might not be aware of that. But the politicians could not fail to understand that. In the confrontation between unequal forces, when you yield, you can no longer retake the lost position.

They understood – and still did what they did...

I have already said, what such actions are called. I will not repeat. Except perhaps, in this connection I’ll mention an old verse of one of my oldest friends, who, sad to say, is no more – poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, who called himself a Belarusian.

What counts most is

To face with dignity any times:

When the epoch is decaying,

Or has been troubled up to the bottom.

What counts most is

To face it all with dignity

Not to let the distributors of largesse

To stall you and stuff your mouth with hay!
