Leanid Kulakou Jailed For 10 Days

The decision was made by the Pershamaiski district court of Minsk.

Activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Leanid Kulakou was sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention, the HRC "Viasna" reports.

Today, at about 12.00 the police broke into the activist's house after he had to open the door under threats.

Police Captain Vasil Dzehtsiarou informed Leanid Kulakou that he had to go with them to the Pershamaiski district police department, as administrative proceedings against him had taken place on March 19, and there was the need to familiarize him with the decision of the court.

At about 2 p.m. it was reported that Leanid Kulakou was in the Pershamaiski district police department. Then he was taken to the court to stand trial under Part 3 of Article 23.34.

At about 4 p.m., the Pershamaiski district court of Minsk sentenced Leanid Kulakou to an administrative detention for the term of 10 days.

Important to note, on March 21 the authorities arrested leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Uladzimir Niakliaeu, Maxim Viniarski and Viachaslau Siuchyk. Maxim Viniarski and Viachaslau Siuchyk were sentenced to 10 days of detention each, Uladzimir Niakliaeu - to 5 days.

This morning, the Minsk riot police tried to storm the house of one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign Yauhen Afnahel. The politician was arrested.
