It is a justifiable assumption that the dictator has secret obligations to the Russian Federation.

Back in 1994, the leaders of Belarus and Russia agreed on the roles that each of the actors of the former Soviet Union political scene would play.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the ХІІ convocation Siarhei Antonchyk has stated that on the TV channel Belsat.

Where is Lukashenka’s place?

“We must understand that in 1994, after Lukashenka became president, a raider seizure of Belarus took place. Already then it began. Our alliance with Russia can be compared with the friendship of Stalin and Hitler, when common parades were held, secret protocols were created, like the Molotov-Ribbentrop protocol, in which the spheres of influence were divided.

I think that in 1994, such secret protocols were agreed upon – it does not mean that something was done on paper – there was an agreement between Lukashenka and Russia that everyone would assume some responsibilities. Lukashenka would have to destroy everything Belarusian, create an economic umbilical cord in order to firmly tie the country to Russia.

And Russia assumed the responsibility to maintain this regime,” – Siarhei Antonchyk says. He is confident that the conflict between the Kremlin and Minsk is only an attempt to remind Lukashenka of where his place is.

Tax maneuver: the real price tag

The Belarusian leadership is moaning – we are losing real money because of Russia’s tax maneuver. Different amounts are called – from 310 million to 11 billion dollars. Experts and analysts are lost in thought and cannot unequivocally answer the question of whether economic or political issues are primary in the new conflict between Belarus and Russia. What has become the foundation for today's acute disputes?

“It is impossible to take steps in political integration, forgetting about the economy. Within the framework of the Union State, there were many beautiful words about political integration, friendship of peoples, mutual understanding. There were economic steps, but in general the program did not work.

Now that a new round of mutual accusations has begun, we must understand that Russia is conducting its tough political and economic, if not war, then, let's say, activity. And it does not disdain any methods. These are trade wars, prioritizing exclusively interests of Moscow, where the decision-making center is located. We have taken charge of the court, which actually does not work,” – economist Andrei Karpunin says.
