Lukashenka On Medvedev's Words About “Deep Integration”: We Will Come To This, We Must Do It

The dictator has stated the need to fulfill the treaty on the “union state.”

Belarus remains a consistent supporter of integration with Russia. Aliaksandr Lukashenka commented on Dmitry Medvedev's words about “more intense integration with Russia” at a press conference for Russian journalists.

“Maybe we will come to this too... but we must do some efforts,” – Lukashenka said, explaining that integration is making no headway now, tut.by reports.

The dictator also added that it is necessary to execute the agreement on the creation of the “union state” and implement the agreements step by step, BelTA informs.

“It is useless to blackmail us, to try to bend, to press the chest with a knee. We must go towards integration in the name of the unity of our peoples. I cannot agree to the backstage machinations, everything must be honest and open. Last night I received information that the Russian government understands that it is necessary to go step by step in integration issues. We are ready to start working on this integration tomorrow, Belarus has been talking about it for more than a year,” – the dictator said.

We remind that on December 13, speaking at the Union Council of Ministers in Brest, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia was ready to continue to move along the path of building the “union state” in the manner provided for by the agreement on the creation of the “union state” of December 8, 1999.

According to him, the countries must have a single currency, a single court, a single customs. The treaty also provided for further steps in integration – a single parliament and a single president.
