Belarusian Volunteer Taras Avatarau Threatened With Death In Colony

The political prisoner has not been sleeping in the colony for almost a month.

Political prisoner Taras Avatarau almost have not been sleeping in the colony for a month: he is threatened with murder or rape.

Belarusian volunteer, sentenced to 5 years in prison, almost never slept in the past month. As we know, they threaten to kill or rape him – as a result, now he can only fall into a dreadful drowsiness for a short time and wake up again.

Since the administration controls the convicts – the special services, together with some criminals, started campaign of terror directed against Taras. Perhaps, another wave of pressure is connected with the recently released Briton, Alan Smith, who was serving the sentence together with Taras, and now is conducting a campaign of solidarity in the UK and publicly accuses the colony administration of corruption.

We, the citizens of Belarus, are obliged to warn the administration of the Vitsba-3 colony: they will have to answer for criminal actions by law.

We demand to stop the harassment of Taras Avatarau!

We pray for Taras and inform the Belarusian and international community about the torture that is being carried out against Taras Avatarau and other political prisoners.

Tomorrow, on Tuesday, December 11, at 6 pm, an emergency meeting of the forum “Freedom to Political Prisoners!” with regard to cases of Taras Avatarau, Sviataslau Baranovich, Mikhail Zhamchuzhniy, Ales Yurkoits, Ilia Valavik and others will be held in the BPF office (3 Chernyshevsky street).
