What does the government headed by the dictator do?

The head of the Strategy analytical center, economist Leanid Zaika, has commented on the meeting on economics held by Lukashenka, his administration, the Council of Ministers and the Security Council:

– I want to say: they are sitting in the wrong place. “You are sitting in the wrong place!” – Yeltsin said once.

They may gather 200 meetings... There are enough 6-7 people in the government to be engaged in economic policy. The rest is ballast. The rest is just an obstacle.

Lukashenka says at his meeting: “Money must be counted.” feel I somehow uncomfortable even to hear that. I have graduated from an economics institute, I’ve got a research degree, I’ve defended a dissertation and taught at various universities, including abroad.

And the phrase “money must be counted” makes me ask a logical question: tell me, guys, what are you doing there? Are you doing some kind of social accounting there? Here you have a new formula: Belarus as a country of social accounting.

Maybe someone suggested Lukashenka: look, there is a book of Keynes. According to Keynes, you can subsidize something to support the economy. And here they are puffing up their cheeks and saying: we will support these unprofitable enterprises and apply the “income multiplier” on them.

I can imagine how Lukashenka asks: “What is it?”. And they say: “We do not know, read Keynes.”

So they throw money into these enterprises – they stimulate the growth of consumption of vodka and sausage.
