Minsk Gymnasium Refused To Investigate Driving Into Belarusian Republican Youth Union

They are not able to detect the origin of the video.

Belarusian journalist Mikhail Yanchuk has posted on Facebook the response of the director of the 31st Minsk gymnasium regarding the investigation into compulsion to join the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the head teacher’s threats to students. The pupils recorded these threats on a voice recorder and passed on the recording to Radio Svaboda.

The letter that Yanchuk published, says on behalf of the director of the gymnasium, Alena Mazurkevich, that “the investigation is not legally acceptable,” since “it is not possible to detect the origin of the video.”

At that, the gymnasium students recognize the voice on the record. They say that this is the deputy director of the gymnasium No. 31, Inessa Akhramovich, who was absent from work for several days after the publication of the video, but then returned to work.

The BRYU called the teachers’ statements in the video “utter heresy” and promised to “sort things out”. The Ministry of Education first said that they were “in shock” from what was said on the record, but then they refused to investigate the incident.

At the same time, forcing to join public associations is subject to liability under Art. 9.8 of the Administrative Code – a fine of 4 to 20 basic units.
