Here Is How Babruisk Loses Its Industry

Over the past two months, the courts have decided to liquidate three well-known factories.

There are two more in this procedure, and one of the largest construction companies in the region is in the bankruptcy proceedings as well, Your Country’s Tomorrow writes.

In August, the Economic Court of Mahiliou Region declared the Babruisk Mechanical Repair Plant bankrupt with the subsequent liquidation. In recent years, it has been producing custom forming systems for the construction industry, in the early 2010s, over 80 people used to work there.

During September, the list of factories that Babruisk is losing was topped off by Babruiskzhalezabeton and the Babruisk beverage factory.

The first enterprise is the former Precast Concrete Plant No. 2. Babruiskzhalezabeton has filed for bankruptcy itself. The municipal Babruisk beverage factory, which specialized in the production of fruit and berry wines, did the same. Babruiskzhalezabeton was opened in 1945, the Babruisk beverage factory – in 1953.

Since 2015, the communal combine of reinforced concrete structures has been undergoing liquidation, which is to be completed by the end of this year, and since 2017 – one of the regional warehouses - fish complexes of the former BSSR – Rybny Rad. During the time of independence of Belarus, this manufacturer of fish products had a chance to be a part of the Property Management Directorate, Santa Bremar was taking interest in it unsuccessfully, and as a result, under the weight of debt, the company was forced to file for bankruptcy and liquidation.

Last year, one of the largest construction companies in the region, BabruiskStroikompleks, got involved in the bankruptcy proceedings at the Economic Court of Mahiliou Region. Back in the day, over 850 people used to work there. This company has built the house - residence in Drazdy and the money vault of the National Bank in Minsk.

The problems that lead to closure are typical not only for state-owned plants in Bobruisk. This summer, the liquidation process of the once large local company, Amega-Liuks, was completed. The company was established in 1995, had a retail network in the city (over 10 stores) and had its own vegetable growing facilities in the region.
